Meeting  Minutes  for June 4, 2023

The Indian Creek Cemetery Association met for their annual meeting on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the Comanche Housing Authority Community Room. Meeting was called to order by Laverne Bowman Dillashaw, Vice-President, in the absence of Wayne Parsons, President.

Cemetery Report:

Gayla York Samuels reported that the Indian Creek Bridge is still unpassable due to flooding from previous years. She stated that this makes it very difficult to get to the cemetery and people must use an alternative, longer route to arrive at the cemetery. She stated that she has been in contact with Russell Gillette, Comanche County Commissioner Pct. 2, regarding this issue. Gayla suggested that members of the Association send letters to Commissioner Gillette and the State of Texas asking them to please expedite the repair of the bridge. She will also contact the local funeral homes and ask them to do the same. She will draft an example letter to that effect for us to use if we chose and will obtain the address for the State of Texas office where it needs to be mailed.
Ms. Samuels asked if there were any objections to cremation remains being scattered or buried atthe cemetery as long as Association rules were followed. There were no objections from the members present. She stated she would check with the local funeral homes and the State of Texas as to the legalities of this subject.

Faylene Isham Brown said there was one grave at the cemetery that has sunken in very badly. The name on the tombstone is Pratton (or Patton?). No one present was familiar with that family name. She will contact someone about getting sand placed in the sunken gravesite.
