JEWELL ONA STEWART ALLEN

Jewell Ona Stewart was born to John Owens and Mary Della Cooper Stewart on December 9, 1897, in Fisher County, Texas.  Her family had moved to Comanche County, Texas, by 1910.  

On July 18, 1917, at the age of 19, she married Chester Henry Allen in Hamilton, Texas.  June 18, 1918, found Chester on the troop ship Nester enroute to France for WWI.  

Jewell and Chester had 5 children: 

  1.  Anna May “Annie” (1919-2004) married William Johnny Payne (1914-1962).  Two children were born of this union:  Francis Lanell and Beth.  Anna married second, Clennie O. Gregory (1910-1994) and third, James Hassler Strickland (1917-2013).
  2. Charles Wilson  (1924- ).
  3. Dale Cullin  (1927-1927).
  4. Zoel Glen (1932-2013) married Connie Kershaw in 1987.  His cheldren are: Rachel, W. Ashley, and Zoel Jr.
  5. Peggy G. (1934- ) married Ronald Yeager.

Jewell died January 14, 1989, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 91.
