The Indian Creek Cemetery Association meeting was called to order by President, Jimmy Pate.
Thirteen people were in attendance and no business was conducted for lack of quorum.
The minutes of the 2010 meeting were read and motion to accept them was made by Bob Williams and seconded by Jody Pate. Motion passed.
Gail York presented the treasurers report and after the presentation, Gala Samuels made the motion to accept the report and Carol Williams seconded. Motion passed.
Jimmy Pate gave the cemetery report that 30 crossed had been placed at the cemetery in the southwest corner of the cemetery to mark the unmarked graves they had found. Two graves were found under the tabernacle. He stated that there may be as many as 200 unmarked graves. Bob Williams said he would obtain a plot map from L. B. Bowman so that graves that markers that have been destroyed can be identified. It was further advised that Precinct 2 Commissioner, Russell Gullette, has hauled dirt and put it on the road behind the tabernacle. A thank you note should be sent to him for his help.
A discussion was started of getting a survey of the old church property to reclaim the property. Mr. Pate stated that he would talk to Fain McDaniel about donating his services to survey the cemetery and church site.
The 2012 meeting of the Indian Creek Cemetery Association will be held June 4, 2012, at the same place and time. The meeting will begin at 10:00 am with visiting and lunch will be at 12:00 pm. Business meeting will follow.
