Meeting Minutes June 2, 1996

Opening: The annual meeting of the Indian Creek Cemetery Association was called to order at 11:00 am on June 2, 1996, at the Comanche Community Center by L. B. Bowman, President. Aubrey Jones gave the invocation.

 

Present: L. B. and Margaret Bowman, Aubrey and Mattie Jones, Gail York, Edward Isham, Wayne and Mary Parsons, Wayne and LaVelle Parsons, Paul Luker, David Luker, Theo Belle Nix, Derwin Isham, and Faylene Brown.

 

A. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed. Treasurer’s report was given by Gail York, Treasurer. The Association has a total of $33,500.00 in the CD account and a total of $8,554.78 in the checking account. Treasurer’s report was approved and accepted.

 

B. Old Business: Edward Isham gave report on space available at the Comanche County Museum. He had contacted Ben Evridge at the Museum and Ben had stated that the Museum would be open at 2:00 pm (today) so that someone from the I.C.C.A. could go and they would show them the space available for the display area for the Indian Creek Community and that they would be glad to help the association to arrange the displays. Wayne Parsons II stated that he hoped to have the cemetery list finished by the 1997 meeting. He requested everyone’s cooperation in obtaining information such as biographies, etc., from their families so that he could add it to information he has gathered. Gail York displayed an old Stewart family photograph from 1905.

 

C. New Business: Paul Luker moved that money be transferred from checking account to permanent fund to make balance equal $40,000.00. David Luker seconded the motion and motion passed.

 

L. B. Bowman gave report on upkeep of cemetery. He stated that he look at the possibility of using community service workers to help clean cemetery.

 

Aubrey Jones inquired as the the usability of the Tabernacle. It was decided that the tabernacle could not be used in its present condition and that it would not be cost effective to renovate at present.

 

Burials during the past year were: Rudy Seigcrist and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Way.

 

Eldest person attending meeting was Paul Luker at 87 years old. Traveling the greatest distance for the meeting was Theo Belle Nix of Texline, Texas.

 

Election of officers for 1996 – 1997 : Motion was made by Paul Luker and seconded by Edward Isham to retain same officers. Officers for 1996 -1997 will be: L.B. Bowman, President; Gail York, Treasurer; and Faylene Brown, Secretary.

 

D. Agenda for Next Meeting: Next meeting will be held on the first Sunday of June, 1997.

 

Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 12:00 pm by L. B. Bowman. The next general meeting will be at 11:00 am on the first Sunday in June 1997 at the Comanche Community Center, Comanche, Texas.
