Meeting Minutes June 5, 1977

Opening: The annual meeting of the Indian Creek Cemetery Association was called to order at 11:00 am on June 5, 1977, at the Indian Creek Methodist Church by Paul Luker, President. John Steele gave the invocation. John Steele said it would not seem right if we did not sing at this place. Hackie Langley led the congregation in singing Bringing in the Sheaves with David Luker on the violin. David Luker followed with a solo of How Great Thou Art. The congregation sang Higher Ground.

Present: Mr. and Mrs. John Steele, Mrs. Florence Bowman, Otho Isham, Hilton Stewart – Odessa, Ella Hunt – Odessa, Elva McDonald – Georgetown, Billy Morvent – Groves, Imogene Luker, Paul Luker, John David Luker, Bonnie Biggs, Mr. and Mrs. Hays Gleaton, Mrs. J. N. Kearney, Lucille Wilson, Rena Burdette, Charles and Grace Bowman – Alabama, John Keeter, Thelma Keeter, Harold and LaVerne Dillashaw – San Antonio, Wayne and LaVelle Parsons – Temple, and L. B. and Margaret Bowman – Early.

A. Approval of Minutes:  Minutes were read by Bonnie Biggs in the place of Inez Haynie who could not be at the meeting. Minutes were approved as read. Financial report indicated that the association had $1,126.57 in savings, $788.48 with expenses of $599.75 for a total in the bank of $188.73. Received $315.00 in donations for total of $503.73.

B. Old Business:  (None)

C. New Business: Note from Harl Pinkard was read. Letter from Lewis Redwine telling of many things that happened in the community.  Discussion was made of the endowment fund and best way to obtain high interest return. Currently there is $1,126.57 at Southern Savings and Loan in Olney, Texas. L. B. (Bowman) wanted to see $8,000.00 in savings at best thought, but that $5,000.00 would be goal to work for.  John Steele made motion to combine both accounts and Imogene Luker seconded. Motion carried. Brady York was asked to discuss the poison spraying and how it was working. President wants everyone to become interested in the cemetery.

Officers elected: Paul Luker, President; Brady York, Vice-President; Rena Burdette, Secretary; Ruby York, Treasurer. Trustees: Hackie Langley, Rena Burdett, David Luker Program Chairman: David Luker Ice and Water: Hackie Langley and Chester Carter Bread: Bonnie Biggs The congregation sang one last song Have Thine Own Way. Meeting closed with recitation of the Lord’s Prayer.

D. Agenda for Next Meeting: Next meeting will be held on the first Sunday of June, 1978.

Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at by Paul Luker. The next general meeting will be at on the first Sunday in June 1978 at the Indian Creek Church..
