1971

Many friends and ex-residents of the Indian Creek Community met at the church May 30, 1971, for the 12th annual homecoming.

The meeting was opened by the President, Mervin Bowman.  All officers were re-elected for the new year. Many people were given special thanks for deeds done throughout the year.

A memorial service for the deceased during the year was rendered by David Luker with a violin solo, “My God and I”, accompanied by his mother at the piano.  Mrs. Luker is the daughter of the late, Rev. J. L. Ray who was at one time pastor of the Indian Creek Church.

Several families traveled many miles to be at the homwcoming. Mrs. Lorene Roper, 1500 miles; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Milton, 1627 miles. Others from Houston, Midland, Odessa, Georgetown, Round Rock, Temple, San Antonio, Eldorado, Brownwood, Levelland, Hamilton, Coleman, Arlington, and Sweetwater.

A motion was made and carried that we change the date of the homecoming from the last Sunday in May to the first Sunday in June.

A boisterous meal was served at the noon hour. Our thanks was offered by Monselle O’Brien

The afternoon was spent in visiting and reminiscing of old times.
