Meeting Minutes June 3, 1984

Opening: The program was called to order at the Travelers Steak House in Brownwood, Texas, by President Lloyd Coker.

There was a moment of silent meditation and thanksgiving. Mr. Coker then gave a brief history of the Indian Creek Community and Indian Creek Methodist Church. The program was presented by Hackie Langley assisted by Fred and Thelma Clark, Hays and Mrs. Franks, Mrs. Haygood, Amie Curb, and Sue Langley. Songs presented were: The Old Country Church, Walking By The Sea, The Eastern Gate, and A Walk With The Lord. Mrs. Franks gave a solo of Walk With Me Precious Lord. Rev. J. W. Hodges of Lamkin brought a message on Jacob’s Homecoming from the text in the Book of Genesis. Aubrey Jones presented a testimony dedicated to the memory of his parents and finished with a solo of The Longer I Serve, The Sweeter It Gets. Lloyd Coker closed the program with a poem, Indifference.

 

Present: Forty people were counted.

 

A. Approval of Minutes: The business meeting was called to order at 12:30 pm. The invocation was presented by Lloyd Coker. The minutes were presented by Lois Boatman and were approved as read. Aubrey Jones gave the financial report in the absence of the secretary-treasurer, Gale York. The financial report was accepted as presented.

C. New Business: Motion was made by L. B. Bowman and seconded by Rena Burdette, to spray 60 ft of new part of cemetery with weed killer. Motion carried. Garland Collins presented information on Farm-to-Market road and offered those attending opportunity to sign a petition.

 

Officers elected: Lloyd Coker, president; L.B. Bowman, vice-president; Hackie Langley, secretary-treasurer.

Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned to meet on the first Sunday in June, 1985, at the Travelers Steak House.
